Ray Johnson

Ray Johnson (Detroit, 1927 – New York, 1995) is best known as a collagist and as the founder of the New York Correspondance School. He was a pioneer in the worldwide Mail Art movement. In 1976 the North Carolina Museum of Art organized an exhibition of his correspondence; the catalogue includes many of Johnson’s letters, reproduced actual size.
