Giuseppe Chiari (Firenze, Italy 1926 – Firenze, 2007) was one of the leading names associated first with Fluxus (being the only Italian member of the interdisciplinary art group since 1962) and later with Conceptual and Performance Art as well as Sound Art.
About Giuseppe Chiari
Giuseppe Chiari studied mathematics and music. In 1947 he started his own jazz-club, began about 1950 to compose and joined Fluxus around 1962.
In his music-performances he made use of, among other things, instruments that he had transformed from their original form and from objects that belong more to ‘normal daily-life’.
Chiari is also known for his (often rough-lettered) statements, such as ART IS EASY and ALL MUSIC IS THE SAME.
