On Friday afternoon, mayor Kolfschoten of The Hague stepped over this work of the American artist Dan Flavin. “I step over it to make it known that I despise it”, the mayor said while opening the exhibition Minimal Art in the Haags Gemeentemuseum (Municipal Museum of The Hague). Of course, it is possible to get over this work one way or another. After all, there are still mayors around who do not allow the presentation of art experiments. (De Volkskrant”, March 26, 1968)
The art work of Dan Flavin, made of red and blue fluorescent light tubes, was on show from the 23rd of March until the 26th of May, 1968 in the Haags Gemeentemuseum (Municipial Museum of The Hague). Enno Develing was the curator of the retrospective exhibition.
